Cambridge Exams: KET/PET
Key English Test (KET)
This test is the first level of Cambridge ESOL’s qualifications. It confirms your ability to understand and use everyday written and spoken English at an elementary level.
The exam corresponds to level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
At A2 level, you can be expected to:
- introduce yourself and answer questions about your personal life
- understand and use everyday expressions and basic phrases
- interact with English speakers who talk slowly and clearly.
Your preparation for KET will give you these kinds of practical language skills.
Preliminary English Test (PET)
This exam is for people who can use written and spoken English at an intermediate level (B1). It covers all four language skills and is based on real life, such as understanding signs and announcements, reading simple texts, listening to simple messages and talking about your own projects.
PET is accepted by many employers as evidence of your ability to use English at work when spoken and written English are required for the job.
Our PET course will help you to develop and improve your practical language skills in a variety of everyday work, study and leisure contexts.
