About Us
Who are we?
English Language Teaching Associates is a group of teachers specialised in TEFL - Teaching English as a Foreign Language. We have many years’ experience of working with both adults and young adults in many countries all over the world.
We all hold a recognized professional teaching qualification and have worked in secondary education, in university departments, for the British Institute, the University of London Institute in Paris and the British Council.
Our distance courses are custom-designed to provide you with practice in the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking together with intensive work on English grammar and vocabulary.
We teach General English, English for Business & Professional Purposes, English for Special Purposes (for example Legal English, English for Tourism etc.) and prepare you for a variety of English language examinations such as the Cambridge ESOL exams and the TOEFL and TOEIC run by Educational Testing Services. All our teachers have been trained as Cambridge examiners.
Many of us live and work in France and are fully bilingual. We are therefore able to provide you with translation courses from French into English and English into French at different levels ranging from a relatively low level to the most difficult specialised texts.
Why choose distance learning?
There are a number of advantages compared to traditional face-to-face teaching in an institution:
- You can start at any time of the year.
- You do not have to waste time getting to a central location and back.
- You can study in your own home at times that suit you best.
- If you are travelling you can still remain in contact and email us your work.
- You are responsible for your own learning so you learn better.
- The instruction is given on a one-to-one basis. Your personal tutor is there to advise you and ensure you make progress.
- You can concentrate on whatever language skills you want most.
- It is much cheaper than attending a language class or travelling to an English-speaking country.
Of course, if you are already following an English language programme you can always supplement it with a distance learning package and make progress in the areas you find particularly difficult.
